Josei High School

My studio/installation space is the gym at Josei High School. It is an agricultural high school. Often when I arrive there in the morning, the students are out working on the grounds of the school in their outdoor work uniforms. The boys (in the blue uniforms) are usually cutting grass or trimming trees and hedges and the girls (in the pink uniforms- really!) plant impatiens. The grounds are lovely, since each class creates a garden when they graduate. A pond full of carp invites herons to the middle of the school and the bonsai that the students tend fill the courtyard.
