cooking adventures

I’ve been learning to make some Japanese food, but also occasionally feeling the urge to cook something familiar. Prime examples are my attempts to make konnyaku part of a meal, and my attempts to make chocolate chip cookies.
I don’t have an oven, so I tried making cookies in my toaster. Not bad, considering I also could not find baking soda in the store.
Konnyaku (discussed in an earlier post) is a gelatinous substance that has no flavor, no nutrients and no calories. How to cook it? Why eat it? I still don’t know.
